Our team in Austin has years of experience delivering native and cross-platform mobile apps on the following platforms:
A native app is an app developed specifically for one of the platforms listed above, using Software Development Kits (SDKs). Native apps typically require independent development efforts for each platform that you'd like to target.
A cross-platform app, on the other hand, leverages a third-party framework or language for development. This means that you write the app once, and that framework translates your app so that it runs on multiple platforms. However, these frameworks are often limited in their capabilities, and some platform vendors discourage their use.
In most circumstances, we recommend native mobile applications. Leveraging the native SDKs provides the best performance and a consistent user experience with other native apps on that platform. Also, native apps typically allow access to more device capabilities (location, camera, accelerometer, etc) than cross-platform solutions. However, if you're looking to develop an app with mostly static content, a cross-platform solution may be more appropriate and cost-effective.
We can help you decide which approach is the best fit for your use case and provide you with a complimentary estimate. To request a custom proposal for your specific requirements, just give us a shout. If you'd like to learn more about our development process, check out the About Us section.
